Everything in the Universe follows a cycle. Ancient civilizations based their activities on the cycles of the sun, moon, weather, seasons, and stars. Mother Earth and all species living within her ecosystem also operate on cycles. Every living organism experiences cycles down to the cellular level and DNA. For those interested, abundant scientific literature is available for further exploration.
Each planet progresses through its cycles with the assistance of its sun and moon. The sun and moon represent polarity both figuratively and relatively; the Sun symbolizes God, while the Moon symbolizes the Goddess, reflecting masculine and feminine energy necessary for balance and creation. This dynamic is also observed as light and shadow energy.
Throughout history, many cultures have harnessed these cycles to attract what is needed and release what is not. The current severe weather and geographical changes worldwide are attributed to Earth's ongoing cycles. Earth is undergoing a process of purging, healing, and raising its vibration. Many individuals feel called to assist humanity in this transformative period.
If you feel compelled to engage with the moon cycles and utilize this healing energy, here are some foundational practices:
New Moon:
A new moon is an ideal time to set goals and reflect on the past cycle. Consider what you have experienced, noticed, or learned about yourself and apply these insights in the new cycle. Use these journal prompts to guide your reflections and intentions.
Moon Water: Place a jar of water outside during the day before a new moon and collect it the next day. Drink it or use it in food.
Offering Bowl: Create a bowl with salt and mixed ashes, adding items like cinnamon, cloves, dried roses, sage leaves with written manifestations, and a candle. Light the previous sage leaves using the bowl's candle, write new intentions, and burn them. Save the ashes for future use.
Ancestor Offering: Offer whiskey, tea, treats, or fresh roses or other special items to your ancestors.
Crystal Charging: Charge daily-used crystals under the new moon.
Salt & Cinnamon Rituals: Use salt or cinnamon at your front door to clear energy and set positive intentions.
There are many ways to utilize new moon cycles, so explore what resonates with you.
Full Moon:
Sync with the moon cycles to focus on releasing emotionally, physically, and mentally. Reflect on past experiences and learnings with journal prompts such as “What have I learned? Did I handle things differently? What new perspectives did I gain?” Identify any barriers and seek clarity to address them.
During my full moon ritual, I meditate with the intention of gaining further clarity on what I no longer need to process and release it to the divine. I seek assistance and allow myself to express emotions as needed. Typically, I gain insights from this meditation with my divine team, which I then document through journaling. From this process, I identify lessons learned and create a list of items I release to the universe, thus unburdening myself.
Additionally, I develop action items to increase my awareness of certain patterns and redirect my energy towards achieving different outcomes. These action items are incorporated into my new moon rituals, akin to goal setting. This involves asking oneself what changes, learnings, or experiences are necessary. Ultimately, it is important to make space for new opportunities, and full moons are ideal for this purpose.
To symbolize this release, I write down my burdens or things no longer aligned with me on paper, then carefully burn the paper using a candle placed in a clay bowl surrounded by dark salt. As I burn the paper, I verbally affirm what I am releasing. Sometimes, I write a word or two on a sage leaf and burn it to aid the release process. The clay bowl serves as a vessel, while the dark salt collects the ash from these releases. The dark salt is then repurposed for protection and prosperity.
Invocation
With this bright full moon. I choose to cleanse myself and release all that no longer serves me.
I release limiting beliefs.
I release pain and suffering.
I release fears, doubts, insecurities.
I release obstacles on my path.
I release those relationships that no longer serve my highest good.
I release situations and energies that no longer serve me.
I now choose to release it all and ask for it to be transmuted by loving and healing light.
And so it is.
Be sure to check out our monthly moon circles and share intentions and unity with one another.
